Movie Night Munchies for Your Oscar Party!

Movie Night Munchies for Your Oscar Party!

If you’re having an Oscar watch party this weekend — or just planning to catch up on a few Oscar nominated flicks — our friends at Foodstirs have got some healthy treats that will make great additions to any movie. These recipes are kid-approved and simple enough to put together in under 30 minutes with their help, so let the show begin!

Popcorn Bar

Get your party poppin’ with an all-natural popcorn bar (Note: we aren’t talking about regular microwave popcorn here). Use air popped popcorn to take advantage of popcorn’s natural health benefits including healthy oils, vitamin E, protein, B vitamins, and minerals. In some studies, popcorn has even been shown to have a higher concentration of cancer preventing micronutrients than many fruits.

Cinnamon Star Crisps

Star crisps are a sweet movie-munching snack and much healthier for you than that bag of chips in the pantry. Our favorite part of this recipe is the cinnamon: it adds great flavor, but also has certain health benefits, including inflammation reduction and antioxidant effects.

  • Cut shapes out of the tortillas.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 6-8 tortillas, cut into shapes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line baking sheets with aluminum foil (optional).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Using a cookie cutter, cut stars out of the flour tortillas.
  4. Place stars onto the baking sheets. Using a pastry brush, brush melted butter on both sides of the stars. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
